Week Seven Term 4

Hi

We have enjoyed a busy week with athletics, our fun syndicate day and heading to Henley Park to feed the ducks. Also, the syndicate has had our first day in the pool. Reports are all finished and will be given out next Wednesday. We have our final assembly at the town hall - Wednesday evening. The year is starting to wrap up and we are all looking forward to the holidays. Please note that next Friday is only a half day finishing at 12.30pm

Week Six Term 4

The term is quickly becoming to an end. From now on our focus is Christmas. We have started making decorations and completing activities within the class. Next week, on Tuesday we have our class trip to the park - we are looking forward to a day of fun. Also, on Thursday we have our syndicate athletics.

Week Five Term 4

Our discussion on minibeast finishes this week - we have learnt so much!

Congratulations to Arahanga who is our star of the week for always taking action in our environment by caring for the classroom.

Next week, we start our topic on Christmas - which all the children are getting excited about.

Week Three Term Four

We have had a good week - we have continued to dicuss our fractions and made toast to help us make our learning meaningful. Enjoy our photos...

Week Two - Pet Day

Week One Term Four

This week classroom award goes to: Summer-Jade Vitale for always working hard.

It is great to be back at school and we have shared what we have been up to in the holidays. For maths, we are currently looking at fractions - this has proved challenging but fun!! There is a lot to look forward this term - next week its "Pet Day." Our topic for the term is minibeasts - we have done some great research on computers and in books.

Week Ten Term Three

We are all looking forward to the holidays. We have had a term packed full of learning. Next term, we will be looking at preparing for year 3. We have had lots of fun doing skipping and topic. The rugby world cup was fun!!! Go the All Blacks!!!

Week NineTerm Three

We have had a fantastic trip to Aratoi and to Queen Elizabeth Park. The weather was great and we got some great ideas for art, too.

Thank you to Tina,Lisa,Raewyn,Nan and Ros who came along and supported us on our trip - much appreciate.

This week we also have been fortunate to see the Senior Middle production - wow!! What a great show! My favourite was part was seeing their art work - great work Senior Middles.

Week Seven

Wow - the term is going fast. We have been busy with investigating Animals around the World along with the Rugby World Cup 2011.

We have also enjoyed learning all about orienteering - what a lot of fun it is to work in groups.

We have done lots of art and written some fabulous descriptions and information reports.

There has been a lot of illness but we are now functioning with a full class everyday.

Thank you for all the parents who came to our learning conferences. I thoroughly enjoyed sharing your child's learning with you.

Next week, we are off to Wellington Zoo. We have had wonderful discussion about Animals Around The World.

Week Three Term Three

Today we had a wonderful day after we discovered that it was the 19th of August, and we have been at school 119 days and we had 19 children at school.

The snow has given a great topic for discussion, and we have many great stories from everyones experiences.

Our parent interviews have now been moved to next week. So, I look forward to sharing your child's learning with you.

Welcome back to Term 3

Welcome back to term 3. It's week three and the term is already proving to be a busy one. We have started our gymnastics's at PE, and the class are enjoying the physical activity during our wet days. Our topic of Animals Around the World is a lot of fun. We started looking at animals in Australia and this week we are looking at animals in New Zealand. During maths, we are using our knowledge of skip count to understand multiplication and division.

Week Eleven - Term Three

This last week we have all been very tired but still we have had a complete green card week...... Mrs Whitehead is so, so happy!!!

Preparations are now underway for next term - we look forward to studying Animals around the world and of course the Rugby World Cup.

Everyone is looking forward to lots of sleep ins and good food.

Take good care of your children in the holidays, and will be looking forward to hearing of their holiday adventures next term.

One Hundred Days at School

On Tuesday we celebrated 100 days at school - we had a great day. We had a shared lunch, we painted 100 fingers, made a paper chain with 100 links and created a large flower with 100 petals.


Many of the kids said that it was the best day ever!!!

Week Nine Term Two

This week we had a visit from Gill Stewart who is a facilitator for Enviro-schools and she came and talked to us about Why it is so important to look after our planet - simply because we need it for air, food and shelter. Gill read us a wonderful story about the Maori Gods.

Also, this week at assembly we listened to our Baby Bees singing group. In the Baby Bees are Room 19's Alazhe', Anahera, Jayde, Keisha, Ashleigh-Rose, and Ngahuia. It brought tears to Mrs Whitehead's eyes - they sang like angels.
Week Ten we are looking forward to our 100 Days at school celebration.

Week Seven Term Two

This week we have been on school service, where we have been responsible for picking up rubbish around the school - see how much rubbish we have picked up!!! We have also have been learning about Ripper Rugby, and we have had a lot of fun with the boys from Wairarapa Bush Rugby Union.

Week Six Term 2

Wow, what an exciting week!!!

On Tuesday, we had our school Cross Country where Room 19 had Teuwira place 3rd in the Year one girls race; Kingston placed 1st, and Gibson 2nd in the Year two boys race, and Selina placed 1st in the Year 2 race. Well Done- Room 19!!

Also, on Tuesday - we did a splendid job of showcasing our folk dancing to our parents.

Then on Friday, we hosted our Junior Syndicate assembly. Where we read out some amazing narratives and showed our artwork.

We are currently learning about measurement using non-standard measures such as our hands, and we thoroughly enjoyed drawing around ourselves and then measuring our arms and legs using our hands.

Thank you for sending in all the plastic bottles we are currently creating our creations of people, pigs and puppies. We are looking forward to seeing how these turn out.

Week Five Term 2

We experienced a visit from Ronald McDonald on Monday, and he had lost his red,white stripy sock!! He told us that we must stop, look and listen while walking along the road and before crossing the road.

We have also been getting ready for Cross Country. Sadly, it was postponed until Tuesday the 7th.

Please remember the 7th June for Cross Country at 11am and for our folk dancing show at 2.15.

Week Three Term Two

We are well into our topic - Recycle/Reuse. In class we have made creations out of plastic bottles and sorted through our classroom rubbish. From our findings in our rubbish we now have a separate bucket for food scraps. Cross Country is Friday the 3rd of June and we have done lots of practice and are well prepared for the competition. It should be good to watch - look forward to seeing there.

Keep sending in the plastic bottles and empty boxes for our creations. Thank you.

Week Two Term Two

Wow, what a fun filled week we have had!!! We had a Duffy Book Show, which was very funny. We also had book week this week - where we could choose which class we could go to for a story after play. Then on Friday we were all able to dress up as our favourite book characters. Take a look at our photos. Daniel was voted best costume in our class.

Week One Term Two

Welcome back!! We are all rested and ready for the term ahead. This term our focus for our topic is "Recycle, Reuse." I have put a big question on the board - "What could we make using a plastic bottle?" There has been many interesting ideas so we will work on putting these ideas into reality.
Also, we have the wonderful opportunity to do Grasshoppers tennis where the class has been building on their ball handling skill in preparation to play tennis - it is a lot of fun.
In maths, we are learning about Place value and Geometry - lots of learning. During PE we are focusing on folk dancing and thoroughly enjoying moving to music.
